Hi Guys and Gals.
My other half is a power seller on a well known auction site.
My/our new website will be catering to the same products that she currently sells on there.

Now it hasn't crossed my mind, till now, but if we use the same content on this auction site and on our website, to save time as we are really busy people, would it help to put the meta noindex on the auction page to get rid of any possible duplicate content?

The problem is I'm not sure the pages on the auction site get indexed, manily due to the autious code and apparling URL's, that said I know some of thier pages aquire PR, this is due to SEO's who are power sellers linking in to thier auction pages. I wont be linking in but for a safe guard, and the fact that G's duplicate content filter is a joke, don't want to get penalized for the product description on my site.

Now that said I'm under the opinion that to get penalized the content on the page has to ba around 75% similar. If you take the redicious code bloat this wont be an issue. So would I need to still add the tag?

Now if you guys and gals think I do.
How is it seen outside the head of the page, due to the fact all I can change is code within the body thus placing the meta tag in the body.

I personally don't think this is a problem due to the amount of code that is different between the 2 pages. My product page and the auction sites page, but as normal I would like an opinion to back me decision up just incase I have overlooked something.

A fresh pair of eyes and all that.

Any thoughts are welcome and are much appreicated.

Jaza and the misses. :)

If you do all the usual basic stuff -- unique page title, description, etc. -- I don't think I'd worry about this at all, Jaz. With all the other superfluous stuff on the auction site's pages it shouldn't be too hard to differentiate your pages.

But I will stress that unique page title -- make it different than your auction item listing. Actually, probably best to use a stronger title on your site and slightly weaker in the auction listing.

Yeah that was my thoughts as well Jim bob.
Just wanted to make sure I didn't over look something small.
That's a good idea about the page title actually.

See something I overlooked -
cheers buddy.
