How powerful is the DMOZ directory inclusion regarding page rank on Google?
As DMOZ powers the Google directory surely NOT being DMOZ listed can't be good.

Welcome, leemcgarrigal.
In the overall scheme of things I think that while a DMOZ listing helps, the extent of that help is in line with that of a link from any other trusted source. And Google's version of the directory has been so de-emphasized within G itself that it no longer mentions it on any of its products or search features pages.

The reason I ask is that something (un)funny happened to me ... I used to own a web site which was 'banned' by an editor who owned a competitor web site to my own.
After a while I actually sold the site to someone who had also bought the editor's site. Low and behold it came back on to DMOZ. Now I've set up a newer better version of the site sold (after running out my non compete clause) and trying to list it on DMOZ is proving a losing battle, as you can no doubt imagine.
I just want to make sure that DMOZ doesn;t have the impact it used to hold.
p.s. Is it worth buying my way onto the Yahoo Directory instead?

Yeah I had actually wondered if buying into yahoos directory made sense for PR as well, is it a last ditch move or should I be paying the big bucks for most if not all my clients..
