Is there any good SEO company that you guys can recommend me for a small-medium site. I've heard before that 1P.com is not a good one, is that true?

Thanks.

if you search for traffic power and / or 1p the web community as a whole will have lots of feedback about them.

as far as good it depends on what you are looking for and what medium sized company means and what field medium sized company is in...ie: medium sized pharmacy requires a different type of seo service than a medium sized cheesecake site would.

www.seopros.org &
www.seoconsultants.com
are two directories of seo companies.

there are lots of ways to hunt, but make sure they fully understand what you are looking for and you fully understand what exactly they intend to do before you spend any money. also check out what others have to say about them (though some of it may be biased), check their backlinks to see what kind of sites they are associated with, and check for testimonials and contact some of those people that gave testimonials if you can.

you may also want to research into seo a bit before you hire any seos so you learn a bit of the lingo and kinda how it works.

While I never did a ton of consulting work, the last stint I did I was very picky about chosing clients - eg, those I got on well with, things worked out better - those that seemed to not mesh with my personality, I recommended to friends / other SEOs.

For some people, "liking your consultant" may not be an issue - for me, I had to like my clients, else I would've gone nuts.

Hm, actually - that tip, and searching in various forums for the SEO companies / consultants you come across can be good, that way you get a "feel" for how they deal with people before you contact them - everybody has their own unique style, etc - there's more than one way to skin the SEO cat, imho. Though, the two basics are 1) inbound links and 2) inbound links with anchor text.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tips and links.

More details:
The site is only under 10 pages and it's on French rugs. The company has just recently tried to expand to the web. The site is a few months old, and only generating small traffic (under 200 unique visitors per month before October). Currently the website is purely informational, but plans have been made for a small online store for the near future.

I'm currently working as the webmaster. I've validated the pages using W3C tools, followed the webmaster's guidelines from google, and submitted to several free directories. The owner has also recently tried to advertise on Google for a little while. But all of those don't seem to be enough for search engine rankings. It would be nice to get advise and help from a pro.
