Yeah, Connolly's is good. Make it one of the E 47th street locations and I can crawl home.

St. Pat's night can be brutal though, haven't been out on one in 10 or so years. Is body armor still needed?

lafmm
02-27-2008, 11:34 AM
No Body Armor needed! That said, it would be cool if we had Green Search Jerseys for everyone to wear...

Exactly how is this pub crawl going to work? A bunch of search folks just showing up at each place and moseying on in seems kind of unlikely on St. Pat's night.

jimbeetle

arranged for the pubs to expect us
Ahhh, now that makes a bit more sense than walking up cold and jostling through the crowd of 40 or so on the sidewalk who are already waiting to get in.

One very good thing about the pubs being on the West Side are that most of the, erm, uniformed celebrants stay on the East Side after the end of the parade ('cept maybe for those heading to Kennedy's).

1. Come to SES New York
2. Find foosball table
3. Score the most points, win an iPod touch! (Actually, you and your partner each win one)

Hey Gang - come play some foosball with us in NY at Booth 2033 (America's Hall 2, near the car giveaway and massage tables).

See Eric's blog post here (note: he mentions iPhone, but the prize is actually an iPod touch) http://www.stonetemple.com/blog/?p=234

I think we're a bit more organized in Boston. We call the bar ahead of time and pay the door guy $50 to let in 15-20 of us no matter how long the line.

NYC people just sit outside saying, Hey! Ho! Whoa! Forget about it!

Hello everyone I am the 'desingated Irish person' for the event. I have lived in the United States for 11 years and this is my first time in New York on St. Patrick's Day. So its going to be a surprise for me too. I drafted in the relatives who live there to help confirm the list of pubs and they will be coming with us on the pub crawl. I hear Matt from SES and Matt from Connors have a few contacts there too. If all else fails and it really is hard to get in anywhere or get a drink then we can go back to the Hilton and make our own party. I promise not to dance that's not pretty since the knees packed up but I may have to sing in honor of the occasion.

This will be my first SE conference. My current plans are to travel from Washington DC on the 18th to attend the SES conference, the Best of Web event following, and anywhere else that I can.

Leaving early on the 19th to return.

I can only spare 1 day. Any suggestions from veterans here for a first time SES visitor?

jimbeetle
03-12-2008, 07:28 PM
Just introduce yourself and talk to as many people as you can. Bring plenty of business cards. Buy me a beer.

Since you only have one day, be sure to plan which sessions you want to attend. (I usually try to catch something I don't know anything about just to broaden my knowledge a bit; whether I use it or not, at least I know it exists.) No matter what you do though, be sure to talk to people -- any people -- you never know what you'll learn.

We can just grab tables at the conference lunch - hey it is not about the food - and talk there or go somewhere close for a sit down lunch - but there could be a bunch of us.

The conference lunch is probably the best bet, saves having to figure out where and how many, and we can just grab people as they wander by.

Sunday evening, bar at the Hilton, eh? I was wondering what to do with my Sunday evening...LOL Guess I know now... :D

Spotting SES'ers is easy:

1 - find bar at conference hotel
2 - open eyes
3 - see, we've taken over

I vote Aussie should wear a Dr. Seuss hat so we all have a rallying point! ;)
