Hello Friends,
I am a collegiate and need some extra money for my expenses. I have heard many names of various sites and links but I don’t know whether they really click. I need help so that I can decide some good ways to get going in the internet biz. Please give me ideas on making money from surveys or from affiliate marketing.
Thanks in advance!

demaya, I don't know about surveys, and there are a lot of scams online to watch out for, but if you have anything you're very knowledgeable about or have a serious interest in, you can probably do OK with legitimate affiliate marketing. But it doesn't happen overnight, it takes time, commitment and patience.

I remember five years ago I tried some of this survey stuff (when I didn't think about purchasing a career in online marketing or SEO, yet) and the pay was so horrible and ridiculous that I gave it up early afterwards.
I remember a few guys I knew rooted about how great it was to make money online by having one of those ad bars installed on your computer while surfing(at the bottom), but I think the pay-out (for how annoying that can be) was ridiculously low (I think those guys kind of liked the whole experience that came with it though "getting money for not working at all").
As for making money from affiliate marketing, you have to learn how to build a basic website learn a lot about SEO and/or PPC, etc. and can't expect to make a lot of money to begin with. So if you only want to do this to help you with your cost of living while you're in college it's not really an option imho (if you do it part-time you'll probably put in at least a year into learning about this stuff and building your first site before you can really monetize it..and after a year or so the amount of money you'll make from it will probably still not be better than from an average student job.
The whole making money online easily and quickly is a sales pitch used by people trying to sell their products on "how to make money online". If you have a real interest in it go for it, but if you want something that helps you cover your cost of living while you're in college look for another job.
Something that might be interesting is doing usability testing if you can find such a job. I've seen an ad like that somewhere at my college..you have to surf websites and are usually a "tester" of the website (so people can analyze the way you (and other testers) surf their website(s) and what they can do to improve the user experience, etc.). I'm not really sure if there are many such jobs and if it pays, but it seems less work than a job at the supermarket and you don't need to put in a lot of time into learning about the web and marketing in order to make your first bucks.

I would never rely on making money online for sometime. In others words do not quite your day job. (All those late night commercials trying convince you to buy their money making online CD's are only making them money.) There is allot of scams out there. Don’t get caught up in the fever until you realize that it is never ending work to keep up with the big boys! (or girls)
1. Never pay someone else to market their product.
2. Research and read the policies of affiliate programs.
3. Don't sign any agreements with affiliate companies until you READ THE AGREEMENTS. (some may only allow you to market their products on your site)
4. Try contacting the affiliate manager to see if they will offer you more income. (don't be afraid to ask if you have a high traffic site)
5. Don't quite your day job because it takes allot of effort and allot of time to build an online business.
6. Research and Research some more about the products you are selling online. Make sure it is something that the public is interested in buying. (remember what is a hot seller today may be a cold seller tomorrow)
7. Most important build an online website that is useful and easy to read. (avoid jamming your site up with allot of affiliate ads)
8. Shop around the net for web hosting cost that is affordable to avoid going into debt. (stay on a budget you can afford - it can be a long haul)
9. Once you make your first dollar it can be the best dollar you ever made because you have to enjoy marketing to keep making online marketing work for you.
Good luck and enjoy it..

Marcia, Hello!
There are many sites that help you make money online. But there are too many of them and they confuse you like hell. Spend some time and choose one site that makes you fell safe and interesting.

The second new forum member with a German-speaking name that I've seen during the last few days. I hadn't seen any (new) forum member from Germany during the last 1-1.5 years before.
Is SEW making an attempt to rank better internationally (e.g. in Germany, Austria, Switzerland) or is it pure coincidence? I know this is far from a statistically significant sample, but if 2 people from Germany (in case they are) are registering here, I would guess quite a few more have come to the site/lurked (any stats on this?;))

Demaya and Khurran
I have a few ideas that you may find useful.
First, it takes time to build your online presence. There are some good affiliate programs out there but if you put up a site today, and even if you get 100 visitors right off (highly unlikely) you probably wouldn't make a sale. Most people visit up to 3 times, sometimes 10 before buying.
I know some people who have made money in 6 months, not a fortune but some. Others took up to 18 and 22 months to build a solid online business that is bringing them a good earning and likely will continue to. And some have given up with nothing but losses. That's the reality of the net.
You can join most affiliate programs for $0 and that's the way it should be, remember you are helping them as much as they are helping you.
You will likely make more sales if you own the product or at least have tried it. Try this scenerio--"Riding camels is a whole load of fun, I've ridden horses all my life, so let me give you a leg up." "Yeah, well this is a camel just in case you haven't noticed." "Camels, horses, same thing." "Maybe tomorrow, not."
You will do a better job if you know your product and the last thing you want to do is promote garbage. (Don't go out and start buying stuff, usually you can start with something you have some experience with even Leggo has gotten onto the affiliate wagon, and who hasn't played with leggo:D. If you take your time you'll find something, and that's the best way to go.)
People are making some money on Google adsense, you need content, themed content, for it to work. It won't happen overnight either, but if you're willing to put in the time and work it's relatively risk free.
The buy/click rate for both is about 1%. If you've targetted your visitors you could bounce that to 2-4%.
The big deal about adsense is it drives by page views so you generally aren't out any money. Affiliate programs can work the same way if you choose products you know something about.
You must have a domain name and you must pay for hosting, no one is going to take you seriously otherwise. You can do both of those reasonably enough that they're worth the chance to give the internet a try.
I do know of a program that may interest you but you have to understand that it isn't going to happen overnight, it's a lot of work, and there's a learning curve. Not everyone makes it either, some folks fail, some only do ok, and others are doing great. That's the story of life. You can pm me if you think you might be interested. I won't spam you, promise.
The key watch word is take your time and don't spend what you can't afford to lose. Get rich schemes only make the first person rich, everyone else is standing around wondering where the rich part scurried off to.
