Just yesterday, a site I designed (www.sailwise.org (http://www.sailwise.org)) was in Google, when I searched for "SailWise". However, it didn't list the title or the description. why is this? Is it not cached?
When I did the same search today, my site was not listed. Why? Thanks in advance.

likely it knows the page exists from a link but has not indexed the page yet. stuff like this can happen often with newer sites or sites with shoddy hosting.

When we first launched our site, we got over 100K pages indexed on G, now all we have is about 1K and all of them are with out Titles and Descriptions. We recently switched our server locations and IP address, but all the posts that I have read say that the IP does not matter for G. so I’m wandering what could have caused such a drop in indexed pages, and how to fix the problem. I sent sever email to Help@G and got back the same generic response from them, wait and everything will be ok. Any ideas how to test, check, correct this problem
Thanks

How long has it been like that? I launched my site in late April. If it has been like this for a while, try resubmitting it to Google. (G's Homepage > About Google > Submitting Your Site) It might get re-indexed, possibly fixing your problem.

Whenever you see a site with no title or description in Google, it is either a new site, or Google knows about it but possibly had a problem reaching it during a crawl. I hate to repeat what you heard from Google, alexg18, but that is pretty much all you can do is to "wait and everything will be ok".
webwizard411 - you will need to get some links pointing to your site or it won't stay in the Google index. Try submitting to some of the top directories such as Open Directory, GoGuides, Joe Ant, etc., if you haven't already.

I have submitted to ODP - do they let you know if they put you in the listings?

No, ODP editors do not typically notify you if you've been accepted. It can also be a long wait to be listed in the directory as well. Best thing to do is make note of the category you submitted to and check back to see if it is listed.
There is a site that will monitor your inclusion status for DMOZ and notify you by email once your site is listed. I've never used it so I can't vouch for it, but you might want to give it a try. I think it's free. www.seotie.com

I used it, it has a cool interface but its slow to update and notify you when your site is included in the ODP. But if you have a ton of sites, its good to use. Keeps things somewhat organized.

The problem has been for the last 3 weeks or so, our PR staid the same at PR6, we did loss some backlinks, and on of the site we had a link on was filtered by Google. After that it seams that Google started to drop our pages and now all the pages they do have on our site all have no title or descriptions. Any one know how to correct the problem, or is it just wait and see, hope and see, and the usual mystery of Google.

webwizard -- you can expect this in-and-out thing with Google to last for a couple/few months. It's completely normal with a new site.

I checked your backward links and you don't have any. How many people are linking to your site???

Like I said, the site was launched in late April. I was thinking of talking to my client to see if he wanted to do AdWords, which may get some links. Now that the site is up, I am focusing on SEO for the site (the whole reason I joined SEW forums).

AdWords can get you exposure and visitors, but not links. (Unless someone clicks your ad and likes the site so much they choose to link to it, but that's not something you should plan on.)
There are some good threads going on in the Link Building Forum (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44) if you're interested in learning more about increasing the amount of inbound links to your site.

True, and I have read the link building forum, which is very helpful.

I would suggest that your drop in pages is associated with your recent move. In the long run the IP doesn't matter but in the short run it does, as Googlebot crawls by IP address, not domain name and there seems to be some latencey in thier system when it comes to updating the IP list for the crawlers. I suggest that you wait a week or so and see if more pages are indexed.

It has been over 4 weeks since we moved the servers and G Started to drop our indexed pages. Now we are down to about 100 pages indexed from 105,000 that where index before the move, and the 100 that are left all have no title or description. It looks like G is purging all our indexed pages including our home page. Any idea why this may be happening?
I suspect that your problems are not with the search engine but with your coding

How do I get to the spider that you are using and getting those results from I went to the URL at the WebmasterWorld and it asked me to log in, I did, I have an account there, but every time I go to that URL it asks me to log in again. Can you give me a URL to the spider so that I can check it out and see what the problem is.
Thanks a lot

I spent some time looking at the problem you pointed out, and other sites that use ? and & in the URL, Google has no problem spidering URL with ? and/or & in them, the Spider Simulator that was used to get that results has a problem with that, that is why you are getting the results that you see here. Not only that it still does not explain why 4-6 weeks ago I had 100K indexed pages and now I have 100 pages and all with no Title and Description. 4 Weeks ago G had no problem crawling the site and I can’t imagine that they would have a problem now. I’m think it is more ether a penalty of some sort, but we have not done anything even close borderline to get a penalty or it is just the natural crawl of Google so day you are index and others you are not. Some one should start a Lottery contest and people should be able to bet on how long a site will be on G and when it would be removed.
