Hi,

I have never worked as an independent SEM contractor before and I am wondering what is the avg. market standard when it comes to compensation if it is a project-based SEM Campaign for an ecommerce site? I will work as an independent marketer, telecommute.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

$50 an hour is fair if you do not have a name or great references.

Being based in the Philippines rates of $15-$20/hr is pretty competitive already. What I usually do is charge an initial fee for "implementation" then present a pay-per-performance scheme, usually best suited for SME's who are tight on the budget. So far its an ideal model since you get to put where money where your mouth is - as the old cliche goes. Just make sure the Performance Indexes to base your scheme is both quantifiable and has been agreed on by both parties - whether conversion or SERP.
