View Full Version : Key words - how many, brand-named, 1 for each product or page?

I have a question to which I've heard numerous contradictory answers re. KEY WORDS. If my site has 20 pages and there are 20 to 30 individual products on each page - what are my key words going to look like? Do I need explicit KW's such as MARTIN BRONZE ACOUSTIC GUITAR STRINGS -- or acoustic guitar strings? And, do I need a KW for every product on every page - so that the source code reads 20 or 30 keywords long or more when you add in the generic [non Brand name] KW's?
You are welcomed to take a look at my site and any of the source code on any of my pages. www.USStrings.com
Very grateful ...

Ps. We are right in the middle of changing homepage products and copy as we speak.
One other question - what is he importance of a site map?

too many keywords stuffed into the meta tag.... title tag starts with best blah blah - just list the top three items
trying toi optimize for 20 items a page is tough.... try laying out the site for 3-4 items a page... tighter optimization option... more pages for site which is a plus...
site maps are essential way for spiders to get to all your pages and know when things are updated... use Google Webmaster Tools and you will have help

Google uses the description tag as part of its listing if you have no dmoz or instruct through another meta tag to not use it

yupp, they state this in the webmaster section, how about keywords etc. That's what i meant to ask, as in:
<meta name="keywords" content="x, y, z" />
my bad, I was enquiring about keywords in particular.

Repetition isn't necessary, but do some keyword research for singular and plural of application(s) and also look for some commonly used synonyms.

Any is okay for one page... but the site needs more than that and each page should have different titles, keywords and descriptions.
Try PHP programmer, open source programming etc.... what you think of and what your clients think of can be very different

they're all the same. non alpha numeric chars used as separators are not given any value (i.e. they are stripped)
