Happy holidays all. I want to personally wish everyone that comes to these forums the very best in 2008. I also want to thank the frequent posters to Search Engine Watch, your advice has helped me so much.

I have a client that I'm designing a linking strategy for and I've run into a bit of an issue. The client would like me to list him in a paid directory. The paid directory's home page has a PR value of 6 but as I browse deeper into the site, the section that relates to my client has a PR value of 1. I've seen this many times in paid directories, most of their PR values drop off considerably as you navigate deeper into the directory. My question is, would you still buy the link if the PR value is only 1? Should I count on the PR value going higher if it is a good directory? Your opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Wendell

I would worry less about PR and concentrate on relevance.... it will pay off more than PR

Yes agreed. I was wondering if there is a correlation between the directory home page having a high PR value and the value of the link from the specific sub category. I only buy links in relevant categories regardless of PR value. Thanks a lot for the response.

There is a formula for this and it's very simple. Each layer in the directory will reduce a site's page rank by 1 point.
Pretty smart actually.

The main thing is is the page in google or live?
Personally though how much is the link in comprassion £100? then deffinalty no unless the recieving page has amazing relevance and the anchor text is nice and not just a list of links or just £2 in which case fair enough.
