View Full Version : Analytics
I have Goole analytics for a site, and the site has more than one subdomain. The problem is that Google analytics gives me the stats for all main pages of the subdomains as well as the main page of the portal through the top content area.
Is there a way to make google count for each subdomain by itself?
If we redirected each subdomain from xxx.sh3bwah.maktoob.com to sh3bwah.maktoob.com/xxx, would that affect the SE results and ranking of site and pages?

I can find this one out.... subdomains were being treated as separate for the longest time.... know this first hand as a competitor was getting 3-4 pages on the front page of the serps because of it
Not sure I understand but, maybe this is what you are trying to do:
Change the tracking cookie domain via the _udn variable from the default of "auto", to the domain. Changing _udn from the default to the primary domain name should let you track cookies on various subdomains if all else is set properly. Is that what you want to do?
As far as your redirect question, search engines should have no problems if you use a 301. One word of advice, be sure your robots.txt allows engines to find the 301 and that it's not blocked.
Analytics is another issue when it comes to tracking back to original referrers through redirects. In most cases analytics aren't going to follow through a redirect (301/302) making it seem as though the original source was "bookmarked" or internal and not from search or another site.
Hope that helps and best of luck! :)

Systems can follow through redirects but it requires advanced tracking and specific changes to the set up of the analytics.... use of globals etc.
