When will gmail go public?

When will Gmail go public? They only came out in April, but can anyone give me a general idea of when it will be available to everyone?

Haven't heard anything...sorry. Being Google, and being in beta...I don't imagine seeing it for some time until they work all the bugs from the system, implement and test new mods....etc etc. I see new things in it every now and then....but haven't used it much myself yet. They will get there. The more feedback they receive at present, then I suppose the sooner they can mod, test and adjust then release.

You have the other little marketing angle of all the other want to be's who are acting on Googles work once again releasing similar setups. I think they will most definately wait till that settles then spark a new storm with something with the gmail system......possibly the terrabyte issue...who knows.

Only google knows for sure, but they DO seem to be passing out gmail invites a bit more freely, so this would suggest sooner rather than later ...

I just read a news.com article, and they said Google was trying to make gmail available to everyone by the end of the year. I'm sure details are coming sometime soon.
