Hello all, Im sure there are other topics on this, but i used the search feature and couldnt find much.. I am REALLY new to web design and SEO, but I am really interested in it and want to learn more. This site seems great, but Im not sure where to start... I have some basic knowledge of SEO, but really want to start at the beginning and learn as much as possible about the industry by covering all ther articles/forum posts on this site and others. Where do you reccomend i start and progress to?

Hello there. I don't think that I will be of much help but I am currently reading Aaron Walls SEObook. (Don't wanna link to it because I am not sure if we can do that here. It's helping me to understand the tip of the iceberg that we call SEO. :)

Welcome to you both!

As you may know, SearchEngineWatch.com (SEW) is the industry standard for information on search engine marketing. If you have a little extra $ you might join SEW as a paid member and/or buy Aaron's "SEObook".

Here is Aaron Wall's profile and that link tokenbreakerguy mentioned:

Best of luck! :)

Start off with urls - and onpage factors. No point doing anything else if they are wrong to start with.

You need to reach people and search engines. Address people through the user experience on your website and search engines through search engine optimization. In most cases, what works well for your site visitors can easily be made to work well for search engines.

We recommend that our clients start with 10 pages because search engines are looking for sites rich with information. More pages with solid content means higher search engine rank.

The first priority is strong description of your product or service, including any variations available. These are the pages where you most want visitors to land because this is where you make your money.

Second priority is expanding the basics of your product or service — how-to pages and explanations of details. Put each main point on a separate page.
