I manage an e-commerce site for a bricks & morter retailer that sells high-end designer women's shoes, handbags, etc. The owners of the business make frequent buying trips to New York where they visit a wide variety of dining establishments. Before the company moved into e-commerce, its previous 'brochure'web site contained a section called New York City Restaurant Guide that was very popular with store customers (who also travel to New York). I want to revive that section of the site but I want to make it its own thing - a separate site with reciprocal links to the e-commerce site.
Question: The key is that this is totally legitimate - the content is real and useful, and contains links to restaurant sites; store customers have specifically requested that it be reposted. But since this content is not strictly related to womens' fashion, I'm worried that search engines will think it's some kind of trick - just there for the back-link. Will they?
