View Full Version : multiple sites backlinks search tool
Does anyone know of a tool that will allow you to find the number of backlinks (on Y!) the top few results have (on G) for a list of keywords?

Thanks Aaron, that's a great tool and I think the closest I'll get off the shelf.
The only bit missing is being able to feed it a large list of keywords and have it automatically give me back the results.
Looks like that's tonight's project...

another option is to fill your keywords into a tool like prdigger to extract a set of domains and then send that list to a backlink analyzer or some script that gets backlinks from yahoo
Thanks again for the suggestions, but I have it working now.
I just wish Yahoo had an API like Google's, it would run a lot quicker!
Now that I have this little fella working, I'm wondering what else I can build into it.
Currently it works like this:
give it a bunch of keywords in a list and it will tell you the amount of backlinks yahoo shows for the top 10 results on google, and how many of those links are internal.
The tool Aaron has linked above has some nice extra features, such as how many links into the whole domain. I'm going to add links to the homepage if its a deep page.
Out of interest, what else would you all like to see in a tool like this?
What would your dream backlink checker do?

How about telling me the C block of all backlinks, when you notice more than x% are from the same block, cluster them so I can check them out and see what they are up to ;)
I would also like to see anchor text clustering. If over x% had the same anchor text then cluster that and let me sift through that individual cluster - you could then break that down again by showing me the C block of those, see if they have hit a forum or paid for blanket text links on a large site.

How about namservers and HorseRank?
Thanks for the input

hmmm, should be doable, have to look into that one.
> would also like to see anchor text clustering.
Should be able to get that easy enough by crawling the linking pages. Doing that would be time consuming though, you'd have to crawl a fair few of them to get a good idea of anchor text %. Very nice idea though.
>namservers
to get round different class c's on the same server?
>HorseRank?
You'll have to remind me whether thats how many horses your page is worth, or how high the page is measured in hands, I can never remember...
you both get a login when I get round to setting up a web front end :-)
I guess it would be nice to have all these things as selectable options, so you could get a quick n dirty backlinks report or a more in-depth competition search if you had the time to wait for the crawler to do its thing.

HorseRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast equestrian structure as an indicator of an individual page's potential for delivering a useful food fact.
That aside, clustering by linking domain would be a handy feature.

We've just updated our tool (http://www.555webtemplates.com/backlinks-tool.asp) to do this:
