I remember some discussion on this forum about the Google "Advertise on this site" link next to their ads. At that time some posters complained that it "screamed advertisement". That was a good point.

Recently Google sent out a survey asking adsense users what they thought... One question was about the "Advertise on this Site" option.

We turned that option off. Why you might ask?? Because we worried that we might get the lower paying clicks. Adwords users who could not get their ads on the giant sites might put their penny ads on our site.

Any comments?

Wrong, that will actually get advertisers to bid on ads on your websites and will increase your potential earning power.

I can see that if you have lots of bidders, but if you only have ten bidders, then what? I like to see the $5.00 or $15.00 clicks etc. What if they start bidding 10 cents, or 15 cents?

Supply and demand, the more potential advertisers you have that want to advertise on your sites the more per click you get, so when you shut that off you get less demand since that is a direct link to a form where advertisers can bid on your ad space.

Has anyone ever actually clicked on the "Advertise on this site" link?

Yes, it takes you to sign up form so you can advertise using Google Adwords, you can also enter specific websites you wish to bid for placement on.
