Another query not specific to AdWords, but that is where most of our paid traffic comes from.... We get a lot of clicks from search engines like "toseeka, com" and "meanwhile.com" and plenty more. Okay, I've been online since last century, and the only way I would know these "engines" exist is because they show up on my logs. While I am sure there are a few people out there using these sites, it doesn't pass the smell test to get hundreds of referrals from them.

I assume this is 100% bogus traffic, and we are taking steps to minimize. However, I am curious how this particular operation works.

Thanks

These are search partners for Google and/or Yahoo. If you don't want this traffic, in Adwords you can set your campaigns to only run on Google. No such option exists for Yahoo, but you can block up to 250 domains there.

Before blocking these sites, though, make sure you're not getting conversions from them. Many of these partner sites do convert for some advertisers.

Yes, I totally agree with Mel66. I find this class of sites can perform well, but you need to measure performance to confirm. Don't think of meanwhile.com as an MFA, think of it as "a search engine without the organics" :)
