I try not to post links to my own stuff, but I thought you all would appreciate my interview with Mike Grehan, that I published this morning under the title Interview With Mike Grehan: Author of Search Engine Marketing Book (http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/000985.html).

Here is an excerpt that relate to a topic of interest today:
The sandbox thing you guys are kicking around at the moment gets a different approach from me. It's based more on some research I have regarding the "rich get richer" power law. This explains why a static ranking algorithm such as PageRank is so bad for new pages trying to get a rank following indexing and why it's probably bad for the ecology of the web as a whole.

It's not really a case of dismissing the sandbox theory, it's more a view from the evolvement of networks and the acceleration of the "rich get richer" law as far as linkage data is concerned. Strangely enough, search engine marketers are partly responsible for the problem as well.

After listening to Mike talk one night at dinner, I didn't think he could get more fascinating from an SEO theory standpoint and I was wrong. Great article and I am highly looking forward to Mike's new book.

Great interview Barry.

Thought I’d drop by to mention that the “rich get richer” article Mike refers to in the interview will be published in www.e-marketing-news.co.uk this Friday (Oct 8).

I’ve been reviewing the article and personally I think it is some of the best writing Mike has ever done. It’s about 12 pages so I recommend printing it out for easier reading, but despite the length, I found the article to be totally captivating. It’s like getting a guided tour through social network theory by a world class comedian who is also a serious researcher.

Happy Reading!

I can't wait, thanks for the update on the date.

Oh, Mike is due all the credit. His time is very valuable and he was very gracious about the whole procedure (whatever that was).

Hey Joe, you're welcome. When you're over this way you should come around to meet the parents. And after dinner, maybe get into a little wrastlin' too

See you in Stockholm.

Wow, ummm....thanks for the invite Mike...even though my layover to Stockholm is at Heathrow for about 4 hours...<ahem> I really don't think I'll have time to meet the folks this trip or engage in any 'wrastlin', so I'll uh ...have to take a raincheck.

I will see you in the bar for Stockholm SES I imagine.... ;)

Barry, great interview...thanks for the post.

As long as there isn't any wrastlin with Mike, you can count me in ;)
