Consider the following senario:

A website design company registers a domain name for a company based in the UK and the domain registration details contain a UK address.

The domain name is a .com, the domain is hosted in the US and the target market for the company is the UK.

My question is this:
Even though the website is a .com and is hosted in the US, do the search engines look more at the registration details of the domain name or at the physical location of the hosting when it comes to ranking weighting factors.

Does it matter at all what country specific information there is in the domain registration details ?

I believe it's more to do with the physical location of the hosting rather than the registration details.

Anybody any thoughts?

registration, maybe but location of the server yes.
