Hi there! This question is more for people working or having worked in SM agencies. Has anyone of you an idea of the budget range we should recommend to small/medium businesses for Google PPC campaigns? It probably depends on many factors but even rough numbers would help. Thanks,

most SM agencies will work directly with the search engines to generate a preliminary keyword list, click/traffic estimates, and estimated cost for proposals.

There is of course no answer to this question. But, it's a question I've been asked constantly over the years. So, I have developed a strategy:
1) Start with a really small campaign, something the client simply cannot object to.
2) Measure the results like crazy. Use the adwords conversion tracking code to generate real ROI numbers.
3) Track responses through the clients business to see how much revenue is generated. Try to track this revenue all the way to profit if possible.
4) Once you can document *positive* ROI from steps 2) and 3) above, then give the client a full blown proposal for a much bigger PPC spend, given that you can show them they will make money.
I mean, at the end of the day, if I could *prove* to you that for every $1 you spent on PPC your business made $2 in profit, then how much do you think you would spend on PPC :)
