View Full Version : Tracking Adwords, Outsourcing PPC
Hi,
Our company is outsourcing management of its Adwords campaigns.
The outsourcing company prepares all the campaigns and does all the tracking. As they say, they places a cookie to the user when he clicks one of our adwords annonce. And the cookie stays for one month.So they calculate CPA for each campaign..
However I do not trust much to their software and it is not very user friendly. Besides we never see the real keywords clicked.
for ex: I pay for "voyage" large. I sold a product with "voyage XXX" i see "voyage" as the keyword which does the selling.
We are not happy working with this company and we would like to change the company and if it is possible do the tracking ourselves. We have google analytics scripts on our pages.My question is, is it possible to do all the tracking for adwords by google analytics?Cookie of google analytics can it stay one month like theirs? Or is there another trusted efficient software that we can buy which does the job better then outsourcing company?
And also another question is when we work with a firm as we do now between google and us does it cost us more expensive? I mean if we do all by ourselves will it cost less?
Somebody explained to me that google prefers us to work with an agency like that.I costs us less he said.However I do not believe in
Thanks in advance for your help

No the price of the ppc will be the same u nless you are in Asia... where they do give agency commissions but generally you will never pay more.
Google Analytics can track any click - even banners ads and text links if you put the right code on them....
I would also increase the life of the cookie... 6 months is better... since not everyone converts over night
I'm in France. I do not understand how it can't be less when we work direct with google.
We are paying for the agency right?
When we do not pay for the agency it should cost us less.
I mean for me logically it shouldn't cost more.

no Google pays an agency fee... though not much in Europe any more... it does not raise what you pay.... you pay the bid that is calculated

Yes, I do agree with adamap.
The easiest way to count the conversions with adwords is the Adwords Conversion Tracking. You will need to insert the tracking code into the page where the user has completelyy finished the buy.
You will be able to save money if you manage your own campaings, but it's possible that the knowledge of the agency are larger than yours or your PPC team.
It's logical to think that if you aren't happy with your agency, a good solution would be change it. If you think that you have enough knowledge to manage the PPC campaings of your company, or to do it better than another agency, try it. But if your aren't sure about this, a good idea will be to change the agency for another one
the agency is really not better then me in preaparing campaigns, finding keywords .. however I do not know at this stage about bidding. I will read and try to learn about it . Any advises on how to be an Adwords consultant Pro?

Basically, if you are managing an important amount of money in Adwords, it would be interesting to contact with others agencies. If your budget isn't too great you can try to learn and manage yourself your campaigns.
I don't know if this agency has enough knowledge about adwords, we know that now there are a lot of amateurs working with adwords and also some agencies have basics knowledge about that.
Remember that adwords isn't only to select keywords, create ads,... it's much more than this. If you think that you are prepared to manage the campaing, go on, practicing is the best way to learn.
Good luck!
100.000 euros is it an important amount or small?
I know that managing campaigns is more than finding new categories, keywords or whatever however this company is really not doing their job well.
My chief thinks that I do not have time to occupy with bidding.May be he is right. But working with this company is killing me. They are not professional at all.

I would do it for that amount - so you can get very talented help for that amount.... you want people that have experience with multilingual marketing, tracking, keyword and landing page development as well as writing ads... and a good working relationship is important
<script type="text/javascript">
_uacct = "UA-XXXX-X";
_utimeout="3600";
urchinTracker();
</script>
Our google analytics script code is like that.
To put a cookie for 6 months I shall change _utimeout parameter.
And it is enough? Is that right?
aussiwebmaster I do not understand your comment very well. we are paying 100.000 euros to google. I do not know how much costs the agency. So you advise me to do it without agency or not?
thanks

If you are spending 100k euros a month then the agency is most probably billing about 10% of that as their fee - if they are not billing you then they must be getting the agency commission from Google.... if you are not paying then I would just make them more accountable and have all accounts transferred to your control.... get in touch with Google direct as you are the client
