I'm a small business owner that is just learning about keyword advertising and would love input from the experts on this forum as I try to analyze the conversion stats I'm seeing!

Would love to hear about your experiences and see some data (esp. around conversions) from different traffic sources within the Google network. Specifically: the category I'm interested in is comparing traffic quality (esp. conversions) from Parked Domain Pages (e.g. MarchEx, DomainSponsor, etc) vs. Google.com vs. Content (e.g. Myspace)

Thanks!
Pete

I've used the Content Network for many years, and it performs well, with Parked Domains being one of the best performing segments. You can monitor performance of the Content Network with the new "Placement Report"

content works but you need to track everything.... use tracking code that differentiates between straight search and content.... there are codes that can be used to make sure you get the right info and can track it for ROI

For me conversion rate looks like this (from best to worst)...

Google paid search
Google network paid search
Content network error page ads
Content network parked domains
Content network (general)

I would think that this is about the consensus from what I have read (though every account, industry, etc. can differ). Even when I add excluded sites that don't convert, normal content network sites still convert at a level below the parked domains and error pages (as Google reports them).

If I was to make an educated guess, I would say that conversion looks to be close to this ratio from my experiences(using Google paid search as the benchmark or 100%):

Google network paid search: 85%
Content network error page ads: 75%
Content network parked domains: 45%
Content network (general): 10%
