I have always wondered about a correct or rather incorrect way to insert keywords into my metas. For instance, if I have a site that sells party supplies for all types of occasions, should I list my keywords as "party supplies, christmas party supplies, birthday party supplies, halloween party supplies, etc" or would that be considered keyword stuffing for the phrase "party supplies"?

Would I be better of just using the term "party supplies" once and then just listing the occasions such as "christmas, birthday, halloween"? I have really never been too sure on this.

Thanks

party supplies, christmas party supplies, birthday party supplies, halloween party supplies
As long as you don't really, really overdo it, that's fine. Also, be sure to craft different keywords for individual pages. You example would be good for a party supply home page, but the 'christmas party supplies' page shouldn't include, say, 'halloween party supplies' in the keyword meta.

What I was referring to was the home page. All individual pages have keywords and description specific to that specific topic.

you should do party supplies, holiday party supplies, special occasion party supplies... get the links to the homepage to be generic and then have your individual pages be the specific... just make sure you have good internal linking

Including the 'party supplies' in every category of your homepage is just fine since that's your main target keyword.
