Just a note of thanks.
You guys rock...thanks to all who have offered me some advice and tips!
Google spidered my site on the 15th and I am now in pos 8 for "wildlife pictures'!
Thanks everyone. I will be watching this forum closely for any more good ideas and thoughts. :-)
I now just need to get a few of my landing pages to the top 10!
Can anyone tell me how many searches I should be getting for "wildlife pictures" if I was number one?
Thanks again for all your help everybody!

number one in organics gets between 10-20% of the clicks... get an impression count and figure it from there

If you site has only just been discovered by Google then you may be experiencing the new site phenomenon where you rank high for a few weeks then rapidly plummet down the SERPs. If this does happen, don't panic. Just employ ethical () SEO and your initial rankings plus many more will return over time.

Well, not wanting to get into an argument about SEO and ethics, I added () to reduce the strength of the word "ethical".

A quick two questions:
1) if I have Google Adwords on my page...do those give away some of my pagerank?
2) at the bottom of this page
www(dot)africapic.com/pictures_of_elephants.html
is a feature for social bookmarking called "add this". I see that it is quite popular. It is a script you copy and can't nofollow. Does Google see this script and give credit? I am thinking of creating a similar script for people to use my photos. Does Google see this at all?
Thanks.

actually that is AdSense and no
not usually.... but giving use of pics in return for a back link may be a way to develop links

and the add this feature? does that give away pagerank?
Any ideas on how to protect my code so that people can't edit it and put a nofollow in front of an image link?

the add this does not give away PR
if they really want to no follow you can't stop it... but it can be a condition of use and one that they sign off on when taking a pic... so if you don't see the link you can go after them legally.... most will add the link or drop the pic

Thanks. Will do that. It's just much easier to prevent rather than cure :-)
