If I create an ad variation and utilize the dynamic keyword insertion, will adwords automatically serve the other original ad for keywords that are too long for the line breaks?

Nope, it will use the default text that you specify in the dynamic insertion command i.e. {KeyWord:default}

cool cool, I got it figured out, thanks for the input.

It would be really cool if it were smart enough to just serve my other ad variation when the text exceeded the line breaks etc.
