Just noticed that the site software.com isn't anywhere to be found under the term "software", why is that? Seems they should be contenders for the #1 spot...
On a scale from 1-10 how would you rate their on site optimization? Ditto for overall Seo?

It's terrible. The word software appears in the content once on the frontpage and only in the word Software.com. None of the images have keyword focused alt tags. The homepage is PR5 which I am sure is much less than the oracles and sybases and ibms of the world. I don't have time to analyze their backlinks. They have no meta description tag or meta keyword tag. If someone over there paid an SEO to work on this site, software.com needs a refund...lol. They are missing the very basics.
