Froogle Now Included eBay Stores

I am pretty sure this is recent news, do a search in Froogle in the syntax of store:ebay (http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=store%3Aebay&btnG=Search+Froogle), and you will filter by only eBay stores.

Keep in mind, that these are real stores and not auctions.

Do you feel that Froogle should include eBay stores in their shopping index?

I answered "YES", because there are many people selling through this method and should have an equal chance as any other ecommerce retailer out there to be in Froogle. It's just another form of selling online, but still all part of the sales pie of billions sold online. I think Froogle is doing a good thing capturing every online retail method into their index, that's how you can become the better shopping search engine.

I would agree, they have the same rights as any other online retailer.

There is the potential for abuse (as with most things), however.

To a 'certain' extent, it 'could' be bad. If a merchant has both a website (and has submitted a feed directly to Froogle) and Ebay store, duplicate listings will occur (thus littering the Froogle SERPs).

The duplicate listings is what I think will be the problem... maybe have a cross categorization of sites that are part of ebay, but if there are also standalone sites then have the one and have the EBay brand on it somewhere.

eBay has been going out of its way in the past few months to make their entire system more SE-friendly. The stores aspect is just one part of it -- but definitely a big part, because they know they need to be able to say "Your store will be indexed by search engines" if they want to get new customers to create stores.

The regular listings are also being optimized much more significantly these days to get included in SEs. There are now hundreds of "keyword landing pages" on eBay, all of which have plenty of (duh) keywords and related keywords for the subject of your eBay search.
