I am quite amazed at some of the sites that I see and the ranking that they get...
I am assuming it can only be due to age.
Is Google punishing my site because it isn't old enough?
What is old?
Can someone please advise when Google will give me due credit?
Thanks
Alex

No its not all to do with age and nope, you are not due any "credit". It's really laughable when people think they deserve to rank well in Google. What makes you so important?
As far as old or age, a good rule is the first date a site was indexed by archive.org.

Thanks for the decent advice beu. My site was first archived in Apr 07. Is that still too young?
With regard to the previous thread...take it easy...if you run a search for certain images and see the nonsense that gets ranked higher you also agree that some of the pictures on my site deserve to get more "credit". I do know that Google can't judge picture quality...
If anything my site adds value to the internet...so yes, it should get more credit if it offers a better service/content to users.

You DON'T deserve to rank high even if You are the best African wild life photographer out there. Why can't you understand that?
Add to the fact that your measuring "value" based on your own biased perceptions then, again, no you don't deserve any "credits" from google.
I had a look at your website. All I see is a buch of images, where is the value in that?
Now http://www. africapictures.com, thats a great website!

Well, BuckfasMonk, on point - BLUNT - but on point. Actually, I probably wouldve said the same thing if you hadn't beat me to it.
There is no such thing as Google, Yahoo, or any engine out there giving anyone their "due". No one deserves to rank.
If Donald Trump started a new website all in Flash about how to make money in real estate, he probably "deserves" to rank higher than Joey's-Real-Estate-Money-Making-Secrets. com. But if Joey does everything correctly, html, SE-friendly, SE-compliant, link-love, and text content, Joey can do better than Trump. Why? Cause engines are impartial and don't care whether you are "better" than the other sites out there.
You, Africapix, need to do everything to appease and please the SEs. You want to rank higher. But they aren't obligated to rank you higher. The burden is entirely on you.
Instead of wasting time asking why, ask how. You already started another thread asking for help and you got responses. Take that into consideration, learn from it, and apply. Then see the results take place.
It is futile to ask why you ain't ranking. Only ask how to do better. And dont ever, EVER, think you deserve the SEs to rank you. EVER. They owe you nothing.
Not to pile on but an "about us" page should have information about you, a "search" page should allow searching and a "contact us" page should have contact information including a mailing address and phone number.:(
best of luck!:)

Yes I am certainly a little blunt but IMO, sometimes you need to be.
Your point is spot on as usual cryptblade. Ask the how questions
good point beu

Hi Again
Thanks for the tips and advice...
I am not sure about your comment below?
"Not to pile on but an "about us" page should have information about you, a "search" page should allow searching and a "contact us" page should have contact information including a mailing address and phone number."
1) I think my "about us" page has some info on us? In the first paragraph.
2) what are you referring to when you refer to the "Search" page? I have an advanced search feature and quick search box, but I'm not sure what you mean by "search" page.
3) I Will add a mailing address and phone number to the "contact us" page. (thanks for the tip :-))
I hear you about asking how rather than why....a very good starting point. (My bad...a let a little of my frustration slip!)
If you had to give me 5 tips for the landing page in my webpage, what would they be. I am targeting the keywords in the title.(well at least the snakes theme!)

How do you get higher in the rankings? Well, first of all, be patient. You have much impatience and anger young padawan - and "anger leads to hate, hate leads suffering..."
PATIENCE! SEO is about the process - not the results. The results are the long term goals. It is like fitness - losing weight or bodybuilding. The process and the consistency of the process is more important.
There are far too many threads on this forum with the secrets of SEO. Take the time to read them all, apply what you learn, then patiently see the results.
You can find onpage optimization advice here - stuff to do on your website to make it cleaner and better for the SEs.
But, there's only so much onpage optimization you can do on your site. Stock photography is competitive. Whether you are better than others or not, if your competition has more links than you, they are more important than you.

Some more personal information like "we got into the business because we love lions and photographing them.." maybe? Just a more little personal touch to help clients grow to like you more than the other guys!
Search seems to be working now but I couldn't get results for some reason yesterday! (Mac Firefox issue maybe)
cool looks good
