http://www.threadwatch.org/
This project wasnt due to launch quite yet, but the cat's out of the bag so to speak, no stopping those damn bloggers
Danny, Rusty and seobook all blogged about it today:
http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/000978.html
http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/041005-217
http://www.seobook.com/archives/000541.shtml
so it's time to Beta Test
The concept is very simple: There are lots of forums, and lots of blogs centered around SEO/SEM - Threadwatch.org's aim is to provide a "best of the best" daily list of forum and blog topics.
Not so serious as seroundtable.com - more tabloidesque if you will. With a little humour and good natured fun poking thrown in for good measure :-)
It's all about signal to noise.
Feedback on the following would be greatly appreciated:
Concept
System
Content
Please dont feel you have to be kind.
Oh, and one more thing, in keeping with the ethos of high signal, low noise, there is no advertising at all. The benefit to me, is having you good people help find the best topics our industry has to offer and the information gained from such discussions. (not to mention the TIME saved..)
Thankyou
Nick

Found it off a digitalpoint post just now. It's certainly the kind of thing that's needed. Top stuff.

Just fix that RSS feed issue for me, will ya. ;)
Good to have some friendly complementary competitors (if you will) in the blog space. I doubt we will cover the same threads often.

Sorry for the pre beta exposure (I probably should have asked)...I was digging a ton of the posts and figured others would too :)
Great idea Nick, badly needed. Thanks for putting this together.
I've added the RSS feed to Bloglines, this should be very interesting. :D

Bookmarked! I will definitely appreciate a summary of all hot threads on the industry forums. I don't have time to sift through all the "noise" as you put it. I just hope that you will have the stamina and focus to keep your site updated in the long run. Anyway, great idea and good luck!

Yep, all in good time. I've been kinda caught with my pants down on this, i'd planned to launch in a week or two LoL! There are some other issues that need resolving more urgently but that's a MUST for sure.

I would urge you all to use the system. I can only cover so much ;) but if people spot somthing in there travels that fits the bill, please submit it!
This thing will work even better if people feel free to submit the cool threads they find. Im relatively strict on what gets published but once a member has proven to be a trusted source, they're given trusted source status and can bypass the pre-mod with my blessing.
Much thanks for all the support, i hope you all enjoy it and will participate to the extent that your time allows...

So that's the excuse eh, nick? I was just going to slap you around for your exceedingly poor job of forum spamming --you were taught better than that.
Good job, just the same. I've already alerted a few of the boyz.

This is the perfect forum for threads like this. If NickW was to be self-promotional, it's safe to do it here. :D Just kidding about the self-promo thing, I am sure NickW felt a bit :o posting here about it.

I wasn't sure what to call the type of site that you have started, is it a blog or what is it. Then I realized that it must be a "meta forum". Think about the definition of a meta search engine:
A search engine that collects results from other search engines and directories and then presents a summary of that information as the results of a search.
(source: About.com)
And along these lines threadwatch.org must be a "meta forum":
A forum that collects threads from other forums and then presents a summary of that information as a list of threads.

Now all you have to do is automate the process and you'll have a forum search engine :) You could name the spider snatcher or yoink hehe!
Good job Nick! I'll be by frequently.

Sorry NetInsertGuy, i completely missed your post till mike posted just now (thanks mike, look forward to it ;))
>meta forum
Yep, that's the most accurate description so far. Mivox said that to me when we were discussing the original concept. I like it...
If it were a blog, it'd be a bit dull as it'd just be me posting (for the most part), as it is members from here have been posting (not excessivly, but posting nonetheless) and some of the industry big boys (and girls) have said they'd like to aswell.
The invitation is open to all. I sincerley hope to see doug heil in there for example.
If anyone thinks im getting out of line with my writings (and i often do) i've even put up a public thread to have a pop back heh.. The "Abuse Nick W" Thread (http://www.threadwatch.org/members/threadwatch/abuse)
No fun if it's all one sided eh?
