Hi,
First time poster, but been dabbling in SEO/PPC for a few years. I'm comfortable optimizing pages for search engines, but I've been out of the game for a while now, so I'm not sure of the best way to pay for inclusion these days. I used to use positiontech to submit my sites to askjeeves and the inktomi database. It seems like things have changed and now the paid inclusion programs are cost per click. At least that's the way I read it now that Overture site match is the only option. I tried Lycos paid inclusion a while back too, but I think that has changed as well. I'm concerned with ranking in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Can anybody tell me what my options are for submitting to these engines and can you still submit to Intomi via any service? Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi WanderingMongrel
welcome to the forums :)
Ask just ended their paid inclusion service.

prettymuch as far as major search engines go Overture Site Match is all that is left (and they are cost per click).

Lycos Insite still sells submission into alltheweb and Inktomi indexes, but they really do not have too many big partners.

MSN is the last of the big partners and they blocked paid inclusion listings out of their search results.

the best way to do paid inclusion nowadays is to just build good link popularity into a site to help it get found and crawled somewhat frequently.

There is still no way to pay for inclusion at Google (and hopefully there never will be). I still see InktomiSlurp crawling the web but there is no way to pay for inclusion. They still have some PFI participants but I believe that will expire sometime in March when those terms are fulfilled. Ask Jeeves/Teoma ended their PFI program at the end of September. And Yahoo, I still have not seen any reason to participate in SiteMatch. They seem to pick up URLs fine on their own so why pay not only inclusion fees but PPC fees as well?

Best thing to do regarding new sites is to get them listed in directories such as JoeAnt, GoGuides, etc. and/or on a site or sites that are already in the indices and are crawled on a regular basis.

I was afraid that was the answer I would get. It's actually sad news, I always found if you optimzed your pages correctly and budgeted for paid inclusion it generally paid for itself once you found that good keyword niche. I hope this doesn't mean the days of paid inclusion are over. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.

A couple of the smaller PPC sites still offer paid inclusion. Some folks have had success with LookSmart, Enhance or Quigo.
