Weird Results?

I have been trying to get ranked in google for quite some time now. There was finally hope after writing in my blog everyday for 6 months. I broke the top 100 for a search term. Everyday i track it and continued to increase my rankings. Then all of the sudden my rankings dropped to 840. I took a long, hard look at my last couple of post and dropped one I thought was very similar to another topic of mine. The rankings went back up after a couple of days. Then a week or so later, the same thing happened. This keeps happening over and over again. I can't make up any ground. I continue to write what I think is vaulable content on my blog, I am involved in industry specific forums and keep up to date on the latest news and trends. However, if I write one very little mistake I get dropped. This is so frustrating. I have been trying to climb out of the google cellar since 2005. Is there any hope? Am I penalized?

Its almost impossible for a blog to be penalized just by adding new content. It sounds more like your site has low link popularity and that one of your critical links is either no longer posted or has fallen out of the index. Search on "building links" and you'll find some good advice.
