Im new to the site targeting feature in Adwords as I have been using keyword targeting all this while. Im thinking of targeting LinkedIn and would like to know what would be a good CPM and a daily budget to start with.
Anyone has had experience with this before? Appreciate if you could share some ideas. :)

You need to start with a base line and have analytics in place to give you your ROI... that way you can make decisions moving forward by the profit you make etc.

I'm actually thinking of starting it as a new campaign and so I would have no source of data for better reference. Pretty lost now as to how effective site targeting is and what are the normal rates one would have to pay for that.

it all depends on the keywords and the opposition

And on your business model. These things vary widely from industry to industry, and even within industries. Bid what you can afford and see what happens.
I will say that I was told by Google that CPCs/CPMs for site targeting ads have to "beat" all the ads in the regular content network in order to show on the sites you're targeting. For example, if the top content advertiser is bidding $0.75 per click, you need to beat that in order to have your site targeting ads appear. I know this isn't really relevant to your question, but it's good to know.
