View Full Version : Referral Credit/Signup Malfunction

I've had two instances so far of clients who have signed up for adwords thru my referral button, where I have NOT received the signup credit, and therefore am also ineligible for any conversion bonuses...

The first time was my fault... I signed up the new adwords client from my own computer... silly me.

The second time... the client signed up from his own computer, as I talked him thru the process of coarse... but that also did not register as a signup... even after he activated his credit card... i did notice that there was the click, but no signup credit give... alas...

I wrote to the adsense team, and got the following reply... but no offer to rectify the malfunction. I noticed that Sean implies that one would not qualify for a sign-up credit unless $5 is spent within 90 days. This is not true, is it? Any suggestions as to how to proceed, or should I just forget about bonus credits?

"keep in mind in order for you to receive credit for a referral, the user you refer must meet several requirements, depending on the product:

For AdWords, the user you refer must:
- be a new AdWords advertiser
- create an AdWords account directly through your referral button
- spend at least $5 within 90 days, not including any coupons or credits

Please note that unless a user signs up or downloads a product directly through your referral link, in addition to meeting the criteria above, we cannot guarantee you'll receive credit or even a sign-up for that referral.

As Rose also mentioned, there are additional factors such as a user closing the web browser or clearing his cookies after he clicked on your referral button but before he signed up which would cause our system not recognize the sign-up.

Rest assured your account will properly be credited for all valid sign-ups and conversions.
