Search engine marketing is a competitive force in our industry of digital distribution and we’re looking for a full-time to take us to the next level.
The individual must possess the creative mind, high level technical abilities, and marketing knowledge it takes to be a deadly effective SEO. The individual should practice white hat SEO, though a “light grey hat” is acceptable. Generally, the SEO will be given free reign to improve the different websites’ rankings, but will be tasked with important objectives from time to time.
To be considered, the applicant must:
-Show at least two successfully optimized sites. Sites should be optimized for competitive keywords (not just niche terms) and should appear very high in the rankings.[LIST]
-Be very knowledgeable of linking strategies. This includes internal, external, “Link Love” generation, etc. linking strategies.
-Possess SEO knowledge and techniques specific to HTML, XML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Mod Rewrites. This includes being able to clean up and optimize code for HTML and PHP.
-Know what methods will get a site punished (and avoid those), but also know how to remove penalization/bans from search engines should they occur.
-Be idea-driven and able to work well independently, but also able and willing to share techniques, explain results and mesh well with others.
-Have experience utilizing Video SEO, feed SEO (RSS, XML, Atom, Etc.), and how to make use the social aspects of Web 2.0 for SEO.
-Have a basic knowledge of SEO tools (keyword research tools, link data tools, site analysis tools, etc.).
-Be knowledgeable of search engine algorithms, the difference between specific search engines’ algorithms and what relevancy signals are effective.
-Have a general capacity for marketing, copywriting, and usability.
On the job, the candidate will:
-Create an SEO strategy for multiple sites (both domestic and international) and be able to report the results, improvements, reasons behind techniques, etc.
-Participate with development teams to bring SEO plans from the idea stage to implementation.
-Research SEO best practices and keep up on the latest SEO trends and opportunities.
-Closely track competitors SEO progress in the same space and report the findings on a regular basis.
-Work closely with the current SEM who manages PPC search engine campaigns to coincide organic search efforts with those of paid search.
-Work well with other members of Marketing and PR on various promotions and site improvements.
Work Experience Requirements:
-3 to 5+ Years of Consultation, Agency, and/or Individual SEO work experience
-Experience with complex coding of PHP, Ajax, HTML, XML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, is a bonus!
