Hi,

I'm a very novice webmaster. I read about link trading and I want to do that with my website. When contacting other websites to link trade they'll want my html code. Is that the same as my url? And if not where on my site do I find my html code?

In most cases yes, unless you want to link to other pages on your site but thats a differnt story. Anyhow, go here for a real life example:

This is a good example becaUse it is offering suggestions as to how you would like to link to this website. Its not telling you!!!

Thanks for the help. I'm also looking for directories where I can list my website. How can I distinguish a directory from a competitor website? I'd rather not link to a direct competitor. :)

If you must, a directory should provide you with a one way link. They shouldn't require a link back but no doubt some will be asking for this these days.
