Why is Google Adsense allowing these sites? There are no content and the users only option is to click an add or hit the back button.

If I should have used adsense I really wouldn't like to pay for traffic from pages like Sedo and would probably cancel the whole contextual network to avoid pages like this.

I realize that a lot of people does a lot of money on these kind of programs like Sedo but I can't understand that Google is allowing it and giving them customized ads...

Could somebody please tell me why... and please don't just say because of $$$...

These are parked domains and are directed there when typing the keyword/domain into the browser without .com etc

Some advertisers do very well with parked domains:

This can't be true... Say I type in "greatballsoffire" as URL in IE or Firefox, IE redirects me to Live Search and Firefox returns a 502 Bad Gateway.

How can the browser choose which TLD to use?

Yes there is a lot of money with parked domains, but I still can't figure out why Google Adsense is allowing them. By allowing this they get lower quality sites in their network which publishers wouldn’t like.

But money talks I suppose…

It isn't that Google AdSense is "allowing" parked domains, it's that ads on parked domains are one of the underpinnings of its AdSense strategies. Google purchased a domain parking company -- appropriately named DomainPark -- several years ago for the expressed purpose of serving AdSense on those domains. It's now called AdSense for Domains (http://www.google.com/domainpark/) (note the relic "domainpark" part of the url).

I should also note that not all of the parked domains serving AdSense are part of AdSense for Domains. Some are in other advertising networks that serve AdSense as part of their inventory.

Ok, that was news to me, but if you publish ads with adwords in the contextual network (adsense) they will still show up on parked domains right?

Still can't understand why Google is doing this to their advertisers...

FYI, some of the domain park sites are part of the Search network, as well. It's difficult to tell which are which, but some are definitely considered Search. Whether this is the way it should be is up for debate. :)

Some browsers are set to autofill and it is those that have the search page results for the appropriate terms in the domain
