Hi,
Our company launched a adword analysis and tracking tool this week. It does the following:
for a given set of customer's adwords it will
1. track and monitor position and the advertiser of those adwords on google's first search result page
2. track who are the top competitor's in that market segment for these adwords
3. track which adwords getting lot of competitors, which are getting less
4. new competition/advertiser coming to market
It collects daily/weekly/monthly data:
It does some more intelligent reporting/analysis based on the data/traffic stats it generates.
Would appreciate if any of you can give some feedback on the tool.

hi Kevin
welcome to the forums :)
where do you collect those search volume #s from
how can you cross reference to determine what words advertisers are advertising on?

Seabook,
Thanks for your response.
We gather the data much the same way the website monitoring tools do. We've set up 'agents' with automated query with adwords embedded in them. They ping google site and anlyse and store the results of the first page. We do at a set time intervals.
Since this happens at a set time interval 24 by 7, over a longer period of time the stats should fairly represent what the consumer is seeing
Hope this helps.

what are your relative search volumes based off of?
you can't collect that data by pinging Google.

1) It looks like it's only quering Google.com - and from a US IP. It dosen't recognise AdWords that run in other regions.
2) As this is a subscription based service I am interested in knowing how you can quarantee an ongoing service for the entire period of time I sign up - for example 1 year. Do you have an agreement with Google about the automated queries?

Mike,
Thanks for your insight/feedback.
You are right that we are only pinging from U.S IP. Now we've meniotned it on the web site. We will eventually do it from other IP.
We are talking to Google for an agreement. We will only start charging subscription only when we can gurantee of un-interrupted service. Before that happens you are most welcome to try the free service if you see any value.
thanks again for your feedback and insight. It has been very helpful and would really appreciate if you can give more such feedback about the tool
in the near future.

I'm not sure I understood what you meant by 'relative search volume'.
Are you talking about %impression stats what the tool gives. Agree this will be different than google's adword % impression. But the purpose of the number is to give the clients an idea how frequently their ads appear relative to their competitor. since we do it at set interval, over a period of time, by the lasws of probablity, the data should represent the reality.
We are also in the process of getting more stats using google's API, so we
will present more analysis along with the 'ping'ed data

Are you talking about the present Google API? That dosen't support AdWords and it is still in BETA. Google have said several times that they can't promise how long the BETA will be there or if they suddenly pull it. There are simply no guarantees they will keep it alive. Also, using the Google API require each user to have their own key.
Personally I would have a problem with signing up to a subscription on a service that uses Googles brand name (AdWords in the domain); have more or less copied the design of the AdWords login page and that uses data there is apparently no agreement about.
What if Google dosen't chose to shut you down but instead cloak you with wrong data? (that would not be the first time they do such a thing as far as I know).
If you had put it up as a free service that would have been fine but as soon as you start charging for something I think the above issues have to be resolved.

Mikkel,
I was mentioning using google api in the context of broadening our product offering and not specifically for adwords.
The points you menitoned are very valid and those are probably thr reason we are still in beta. Having google type of interface and using the word adword domain were more of a necessery 'evil' we wanted to do to give the public a 'context' of the tool. But we will change the lookn-n-feel very soon.
Regarding data agreement with Google, as I meniotend before we will not start subscription service till we get it.
My thanks again for your valuable insight. it certainly helped us.
