Want to buy a Directory

I am looking to purchase a directory with a page rank of at least 3.

Does anybody know of a site that sells directories? Or has anybody got a directory for sale?

I don't but I'd be curious to know why you'd want to do that? Not trying to deter u from doing it - Im really just curious, b/c Ive thought of the option of buying a site, too.

Do you have any idea how to determine the value of a site so you'll know whether it'll be a good buy or not? I think its pretty much like real estate..but virtual real estate and you should have to understand enough about this stuff to be able to get a good deal.

I must admit this made me curious about buying an old site again!;)

I want to buy a directory for many reasons but mainly for three way links. I think the value of a directory is whatever someone will pay for it. The way I will judge a directory is by:

1.What pages have been indexed
2.Page rank
3.Age of the site
4.Revenue(even thou I am not bothered about this as I am buying it for SEO purposes)

It all depends on what you want the directory for e.g. general information, seo, revenue etc. I will try to pay the cheapest I can for a directory but if the price is high and I think it will be cost affective for seo purposes I will be willing to pay "obviously".

Well that’s my take on it if you have another view I would love to know.

Oh I see. I thought you basically wanted to buy an old website for revenue purposes and preferred directories. I dont have any other view, I was just curious :-)

I'd probably go for a regional or niche one, too many worthless "general" ones IMO....

Can buying existing sites (that are not really optimized for the engines, yet) work if one only wants to generate revenue from that site? Or is it too hard to find a good deal for that kind of goal?

I didn't understand exactly what you mean, but I found this site: info vilesilencer (http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.php?rock=windex.php) which lists all the new directories and all the old ones. This site has a forum with adverts selling directories which normally tell you:
1. How many links they have.
2. Page rank
3. Revenue

Etc but some off those site cost a lot of money so I don't know if it would be worth buying one for revenue sake.

Glengara could you not buy a general directory but make the categories extremely detail or just convert a general directory into a niche one.
