Does anybody know where keyword discovery gets its data from?I'm interested in using their (free) tool, but can't really use it wisely if I have no idea whatsoever where their data comes from.

I did a search on it once and couldn't find the information I needed...so if somebody knows it off the top of their head, I'd be very grateful.

try clicking on the "about" page :)

Keyword Discovery collects keyword data from many different search engines world wide and compiles a range of search related statistics. Read more on our keyword methodology (http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/engines.html) link goes to engines page where it says

Keyword Discovery collects search term data from over 200 search engines world wide

hope this helps

ah thx mick..I have to admit I never researched it very thoroughly (obviously lol), but I've typed in stuff into Google such as "database keyword discovery" "data keyword discovery" or something like that and couldnt find a thing and then my short attention span didnt allow me to dig any deeper :-(.

Im still wondering what to make of their results/database, though. I guess Ill have to experiment with it some more to find out how clean their data and how good their estimation really is

http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/wordtracker-comparison.html

I have to say this comparison to wordtracker in sheer volume seems impressive...but on the other hand overture is known to have a higher number of searches in comparison to wordtracker, too, but the good thing about using wordtracker and overture to check the same keyword is that wordtracker is said to have the cleaner database (though it can be way off b/c they make an extrapolation/estimation from such a small database) whereas overture doesnt have such a clean database but has a higher volume.

Another stupid question: I've been looking around on the site for a few minutes but cant find it (looked in the FAQ section and so on)..are the results per month? or per day?

Ive alwaysa ssumed they were per month, but now I did a search for a few German keywords that are either way off or per day not per month. I was glad to see they had data on foreign language searches, too but obviously their results are per month and thus the foreign language searches are less than helpful if they're so off...?
