View Full Version : getting unbanned in yahoo
I posted this at cre8asite but for the first time ever, got no responses!
so maybe someone here is familiar with it instead.. :)
my company has a potential client that really got screwed by their former seo. they spent 10 times more than I've ever seen a company pay for natural seo, and in exchange got banned for it.
The seo company set up dozens of spam domain names, with one or two pages of spam content for whatever keywords, and linked them to the main domain. There may be other things in effect too, I'm not really sure as of now.
Anyway they are completely banned from yahoo, while google, interestingly, has 1,100 pages indexed.
Anyone have any experience with getting a site back on yahoo's good side? is it just a matter of "fix it and wait" or is there an administrative contact that we can request a re-index from?

firstly fix it ! then try and get hold of one of the yahoo reps ...... pageing TIM :)
if you can't get hold of one drop me a PM and I will track one down for you, if the site is still dirty then expect Y! to give it a lifetime ban... i would ;)

Can I safely assume that all of these spam domains were somehow related to the main domain such as redirecting to it or hyperlinking to it and on the flip side is the main domain pointing to these spam domains?
If this be the case, you need to first of all take down all of the multiple spam domains and then if the main domain is pointing to these spam domains, remove those links.
The basic idea BEFORE contacting anyone at Yahoo is to clean up all the spam mess and then you can move forward with re-inclusion requests.

Does anyone have the names of the Yahoo Contact?
Google contact for re-inclusion as well?
Cheers

Thanks David and DaveN,
The information given to me is that there were dozens of spam domains set up, with little more than one or two pages of spammy content, all linking to the main domain.
We've informed the client (potential client) that they need to take these down immediately, which they started doing yesterday.
When viewing their site on the web, it's actually quite nice. There was no need for any spam -- good SEO would easily get them what they want. That being said, I figure there must have been some bad techniques on their actual domain -- whether it be spam doorway pages that I can't find in any index, or links to the spam domains that were put up.
I don't believe Yahoo would ban a site that is linked to by a bunch of spam domains, without concrete evidence to prove a relation (reciprical links or whois data). So if none of that exists, then there must also be some spam on the domain too.
But anyway long story short, you're right that first thing to do is fix the problem, which we can't do till the client signs on.
So there are admin contacts with yahoo who we can get in touch with and request a reindex then? that's good to know
thanks for the answers :)

Google - help@google.com
Yahoo - reportsearchspam@yahoo-inc.com
I must say that Google is very good at working with you at re-inclusion and other indexing problems.
Yahoo is not, even though one of their reps promised they would improve at this during the San Jose, SES.
