Hi all - here's a quick heads-up.

Posted to the Inside AdWords (http://adwords.blogspot.com/) blog this morning:

On Saturday, June 9th, the AdWords system will be unavailable from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PDT due to system maintenance. While you won't be able to log into your accounts during this time, your campaigns will continue to run as usual.

In addition, we thought we'd point out that our system maintenance typically occurs on the second Saturday of each month, during the same hours noted above. We'll continue to update you via the Inside AdWords blog as we always have, but you may want to take note of our intended dates and times to help you plan for any scheduled downtimes further down the road.AWR

AWR, thanks for the heads-up.
BTW: it's a great idea to run your Alerts as separate posts - it makes them far more visible than burying them in the Sticky Thread which I for one almost never notice or read. This way an alert is really an alert.

AWR, thanks for the heads-up. A pleasure! BTW: it's a great idea to run your Alerts as separate posts - it makes them far more visible than burying them in the Sticky Thread which I for one almost never notice or read. This way an alert is really an alert. Thanks for saying that - I completely agree. ;)

<added> Wow. I just noticed that the previous Alerts thread has been pinned to the top of the page just a month shy of two years! This would help explain why I habitually start reading at the the third thread down from the top and ignore everything above.</added>

I may as well make use of this new 'alerts' thread to post a very early notice that I'll be away from AdWords (and thus this forum) for the entire month of July - and perhaps the first week of August as well.

I'll certainly mention this another time or two before the end of June.

With good luck, I may be able to arrange for a colleague to occasionally stand in for me (perhaps as AWR2) - but am not able to say for certain at this point.

Too early to start saying that I'll miss posting - but its a fact. ;)

I hope all is OK. Yes, same here. How kind of you both to say so. Thank you.

Here's the happy scoop: 60+ hour weeks over the course of five years and only one 'real' vacation = one tired Googler. So I am taking a one month vacation, with no plans to do anything in particular. Then, potentially, a fifth week for a minor medical thing I've successfully managed to not pay attention to for four years and more.

With luck, I should be able to get all the laundry done and the vintage portable typewriters dusted & polished. Those are my major goals for the month, so far. ;)

I really appreciate the concern. Thanks again.

A month doing nothing sounds perfect to me. Enjoy!!!

I am jealous. My dream is to take an entire summer off some day before my kids get too much older. Failing that, I'd like to take a month off to lounge by the pool. :)

AWR, I hope you have a really nice and relaxing vacation. You deserve it!

AWR, I hope you have a really nice and relaxing vacation. You deserve it! Many thanks Mel66 - very kind of you to say so. ;)

Along the lines of another very minor 'alert', I will be away from the office tomorrow, Tuesday June 12th, to assist my mom with some medical issues.

So if I seem to be ignoring this forum, that'll be why.

Back Wednesday, as usual. :)

I'll be heading out shortly, and most likely returning on August 1st. Thoroughly refeshed, with any luck at all.

A trusted colleague has agreed to look in on the forum for me, and post as time allows. I suspect you'll find him postings as AdWordsRep2 (AWR2) which has a pretty nice ring to it, IMO. ;)

I'll miss reading & posting, and will see you all in roughly a month!

Best,

Judging by your postings on Facebook evil, maybe a holiday is just what you need - or was Seattle just that?

Oh no.

After trying for forever to get this thread un-stuck, I return from vacation to find it pinned to the top of the page again.

Is there any chance that it can be un-pinned?

I truly feel that this thread would be far more valuable if it were allowed to rise to the top when it has a new post - rather than having it there all the time where it becomes part of the scenery that no one actually 'sees' anymore. (Speaking for myself, I never look that the other thread that is pinned to the top of the page - and it appears to have gone without a single new post for more than seven months.)

I do know that this is not my forum, and of course the decision to un-stick this thread is up to the mods. However, I really do feel that readers of this forum would be more effectively 'alerted' if the thread were not pinned.

My $0.02. Mods - thanks for considering it.

Aussie -- If I could I would grab a chain saw and cut the AWR sticky free. And the other sticky, "Optimizing Adverts for Top Positions", last posted to in March, is getting a bit boring. I'll buy you a martini for every one you cut free. Let 'em float, and rise only if they deserve it :)

Many thanks for the un-pinning! Very much appreciated.

Thanks also to abbottsys, for the seconding the motion. ;)
