View Full Version : Give Away The B2B Store to Get in SE Local Listings?

I run a niche B2B business rating and information service. Business is pretty good, but my rankings stink. One of the engines is offering me the following trade. If I give them the heart of my data to incorporate into their local listings, they'll give me a link of "[keyword(s)]" (powered by Company). They say this will be like getting 1,000s of inbound links.

From a purely SEO perspective (regardless of traffic or branding), will this give me a boost in the SERPs? Will the other engines see this as 1,000s of inbound links or just one link repeated many times? Will the keywords in the anchor text rank better?

I'm giving up significant value here so I don't want to do this without a definite SEO benefit.

Do you understand what SEO is? It's about your site's coding...and links from other sites. Someone from ONE (1) website telling you... in exchange they'll do this and it's KINDA like 1,000 in-bound links, is NOT 1,000 in-bound links.

You might want to do this if it makes business sense for you. But dont do it if the reason is for SEO.

Don't do it! If you want to increase your rankings spend the money on long term SEO solutions. Remember they did not build Rome in a day. There is no get quick SEO schemes that work, and those schemes that work today are penalized tommorow, it's not worth giving away your business or "secret sauce" over, take your time, if you have a sound business and sound content the SE's will reward you in the long run! :o

It is not anything like getting 1,000 links.

Its more like getting 1 link.

If, however, you powered many sites such as this guy's, that would be good for SEO

OK...truth!

Is this the offer: You are giving away your data, which someone is going to sell duplicates to, to OTHER websites that are going to do NOTHING but republish and syndicate your data?

If it is, and you get a link at the bottom that says "Powered by YOU" then it could be good. As long as it's from the home page (assuming that the interior pages are worthless and are not indexed by Google/engines).

This scenario may help your backlinks, but not necessarily your targeted links - unless you have more control over that portion.

If that is NOT the offer, then whatever they say, it's a scam and is NOT good for SEO.
