Please excuse my inexperience! How much would you charge for content writing with SEO? Is there a normal breakdown for pricing based on articles 500 words, 1000 words? How would you charge for articles that are written already but would have to be altered using keywords for SEO  ?

Welcome to the forums, LeProvocateur!

Good question, but how about let's get the topic refined a little bit.

There's a big difference between writing "content" for articles and/or content sites, and writing sales copy that's intended to lead to conversion to sales or encouraging a response such as filling out a form to get further details or for inquiring to get more information - like for services.

Even if it's modified for "writing for the web," content is more of a journalistic activity, and would be informational, which can have different pricing structures, either by page or per word. But writing effective sales copy is an entirely different skill-set, and is more marketing than journalism. That would have a different pricing stucture, and can sometimes be incorporated into a model of writing "copy" along with doing the SEO for the pages, which is a two-fold service.

As you mentioned, editing existing copy for SEO purposes is yet another issue, different from creating the text in the first place. And the answer to that would have to be "it depends."
