I worked on a client's account, and paused AdWords due to a lower ROI than other mediums.
However, i noticed traffic from Google's organic referrals dropped significantly. I noticed some pages dropped out of the index for no apparent reason. Coincidence? Or is does a relationship between AdWords and Organic results exist?
Anyone have insight or similar experience?

Hi jlam83,
I would say this is a coincidence. Have you changed anything on-page recently? Perhaps URL structure or navigation? I have know positions to drop out due to the removal of one or two key pages in the site map perhaps.
Both Google AdWords and Google Organic results use seperate alogrithms. Over the last year I would say the AdWords algo is as complex and as clever as the natural algo. Both are looking at different aspects on page to warrent your position in the listings.

More importantly, how long of a time period have you been tracking this?

I don't think there is a connection between them. As scrub said, there use two different algorithms. Please wait a while to see if the results change.

No relationship as mentioned before. In relation to your Natural SEO results, what keyword are being targeted. Have you checked the stats on your adwords campaign to identify strong and weak keywords....
i.e. adwords campaign -
strong keywords (Good CTR) - Incorporate words in web page copy.
weak keywords (Crap CTR)- remove words from web page copy.
Obviously there could be many other factors affecting your natural seo like, unique page titles, frequency of content, sitemaps (human readable and xml) to name a few.
hope this helps...

I think I had read that Google can read their own ads. If so then those pages received "Credit" for having text in that ad space. Anybody who replaces their adsense ads with relevant on-track content will rank higher than the same page with ads.
Its a matter of relevant information on the page instead of a garbage pail of ads.
Create your own information product and put your own 100% relevant ads there instead!

I think that sometimes there is a correlation. Google put several of my pages in the supplemental index and I tried adwords as a method of a link to a page that would increase the linking of that page and google would put the pages in the regular search database and removed them from the supplemental index as long as I had the page referenced in adwords.
They would then fall back into the supplemental index after I removed the adword listing.
I would look at other areas as to why your pages are in the supplemental index because perhaps you could fix that issue instead. IE Duplicate content etc.

Double the amount of relevant content on the page. That's almost always a good idea anyway. That should bring it out. Most pages are much too thin.

Hi there, about this topic i´d like to share some stats. From the 7th to 14th of January, i run a special campaign, adding 5 times more than usual. My Cpc went pretty high, normal up to here, but my organic went up pretty high too, and as soon as i finished my special campaign, the organic hit dropped as well, so o_0?
242% more hits, and about 30% of average increase in many other indicators ( time in website, low drops, etc..).

Another good example of adwords and organic lifting each other

It will take a little while for the numbers to steadily climb but once they do the rise is solid and impressive and sustainable
