Hello

I read somewhere that there is a limit of max. 20 inbound links from same class C IP address (xxx.xxx.678.xxx). Now I have 2 questions.

(1)
Is there any restriction on class D IP address (xxx.xxx.xxx.456) ?
How many inbound links from same Class D IP address are OK and will not trigger any google filter ?

(2)
I have 10 websites on a same shared IP (e.g. 123.456.789.100). What would you recommend about linking them with one another. Should I do pyramid linking among these websites ?

Any suggestions !

Thanks

I asked a very similar question - Does hosting on a shared hosting environment with the same IP effect a sites rankings? - to the reps from Google, Yahoo, and Ask at the Search Engine Forum session at SES New York. Their response was generally speaking NO, as long as that same server doesn’t have a "spammy" site on it. Unfortunately, one wouldn’t generally know if this was the case, since hosting companies don't publicize all the domains sharing an IP, was my reply. None of the search engine reps responded.

In my experience, I have optimized sites on many different shared hosting environments and don't see it being an issue. It may be a factor in an engines algorithm, but since the search engines look at more then just the sites IP it most likely has a small effect.

I would only link to those other sites if they were relevant.
