Hi folks,
A first time poster here, I apologize if there is a similar thread on these forums, I searched first but did not find one.
I read an interesting article today on the Search Engine Watch Blog (http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/070503-134532) about a web site called SearchQB.com which is a standalone search engine containing football web sites. Up until now most CSEs I have seen, like RealClimate.org, are a part of a site that is based on other content. I checked out SearchQB.com and did some comparison searches vs. Google and though Google does a pretty good job with results, SearchQB.com seems to do better, especially with simple terms like football, which is a completely different sport in other countries. I have considered trying something similar (not a sport search engine, but another kind), but am wondering if people will really break the habit of using Yahoo or Google to routinely use a themed search engine site if that site does not have any other content (like forums or a blog) to draw users to the site? What do folks on these boards think?
