Hi everyone,
My name is Ewelina and I work for the online marketing agency as the webmaster. I need your help guys on reciprocal links as my way of getting them seems to be ineffective. I always look for the relevant websites typing in the keywords to the search engines and then I send a link exchange request to each. It takes a lot of time and I get the positive responds very rarely...very often not responds at all.
What is your way of getting them? If anyone has any ideas please let me know...
Thanks a lot

It just takes time! You might try making more great and unique content (ie audio, video, pdfs). Also giving away something free (ie ebook) or perhaps even implementing an RSS feed and/or podcast might help. Good luck!

It gets easier with time. Link building is the most time consuming process in seo but also one of the most satisfying IMO, especially when the natural momentum of the web kicks in!
As Beu suggests you need to make sure you are offering something of value for your visitors. Put yourself in the other shoe and ask would I link to this "website" if I got "this" email? Remember that too. If I get a link request without the human touch it goes straight to the trash can.
Are you tracking the emails? I track all my emails with campaignmonitor.com. The first 5 emails are free so why not give it a go and see what type of responses you are getting. It will even tell you if the email has been opened or not
Best of luck,
Ryan

Most of your concern has been addressed already. Just as a matter of experience, link exchanges is a long term affair. Think, your proposed link partners receives numerous link requests from other webmasters, too. Should your link page be moderate or even lower in quality (I do not want to mean it, its just for example) and quantity (PR and traffic) and you contact heavy sites, your request is likely not entertained. E.g. if my link page is of PR2 and I request to exchange links with PR4 pages, why would anybody consider me upright?
