You may not have noticed but it's been announced that Pubcon is December 4-7 this year. SES Chicago will be held on December 3-6. Now that's what I call a scheduling conflict for two highly anticipated events :p
Which one are you going to end up going to? Or, if you can't attend either, which would would you rather go to? I'm curious to know how to decide :)

Very interesting, I posted a poll at http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/013252.html
Please try it out...
I am very curious...

Interesting results already.
For those undecided, what are you deciding on? Majority vote? Speaking engagements?
For those neither, why? Too far away?
For those doing both, are you doing half and half, and why?
I see votes but no discussion. ;) I'd love to know what people really think.

Up in the air for me. Typically I'd go to Chicago but will depend on agenda and speaker development I guess. Vegas is definitely closer to me (and not as cold in December).

I have never been to Pubcon but other members of the team have and from a business perspective SES wins hands down. Pubcon is more for webmasters and is a great networking event for industry staff but SES is where the business happens for SEM agenices and where the buyers go. Despite the freezing temperatures in Chciago and the guarantee of fun in Las Vegas which is only 45 minutes away I would stil say SES is the priority.

Most likely Pubcon, I mean come on... Chicago is not exactly a dream getaway in December. Of course my decision could easily change based on speaking slots.

Before I read this discussion, I was already leaning towards Vegas. The post above though, reiterates one of the main reasons for this choice..... avoiding the pitch. As an in-house sem, one of my main goals for attending these conferences is to liaise with like-minded SEM's, those actually 'doin' it'. Not necessarily to be pitched to by agencies.
I must add though, agency or not, the whole networking thing at SES has been second to none. Just looking to broaden my horizons.
