Hello,
I was recently contacted by a company who is claiming to put my company’s link on top with Google’s sponsored link for a whole year without have to pay for per click for a flat fee. I wondering if that’s even possible??? Any feedback will be appreciated. They have put my company’s link on top for a sample for a key word “NYC LIMOUSINE”. My Company is Song Limousine.

Thank you for your Time.

Yes, I see your ad ranked #1. This kind of thing is possible, but *much* depends on the actual keywords chosen. How much are they charging you?

I hav not signed with them yet but they are asking for a flat whole year fee of $2750.00. when the top postion for that kyeword is about $5.00+ P/C. and they are claiming that they have bought clicks in bulk from google and becouse of that they are able to offer such a low price. i spoke with google and thay told me that thier is no such thing as buying clikcs in bulk. Lost ??????

There is no such thing as buying clicks in bulk. The best they could do is run a test, estimate click volume and cost for the year, mark that up by some profit percentage, and then quote you an annual cost. Nothing really wrong with that, but it's your decision. *Much* depends on keyword search frequencies, and that for nyc limousine is very low. To see this ask them for their price for keyword limousine. See what they come back with :)

It seems to me that if they offer you that at the stated price they are going to lose money. Are you sure there isn't a clause regarding how long the ad runs? Like will the ad run until the budget is spent? Did they offer you a contract stating one full year of ads (vs. one full year of consulting)?

Are you sure it's not that price for a month?

I've done consulting for limo companies here in Connecticut and it's surely more expensive to run such a campaign for that time frame for much more than the price you mention.

If you can get a whole year somehow at that price then good for you, but the company that is selling it to you is going to run out of budget very quickly and I wouldn't expect them to be still in business at that pace for too long.

I could run an ad for a year for a very low price, too - your ad would only show up once per day and disappear after one click, but at least I'd be covered by the contract that says I have to run it for a year...

$5 per click, once per day, and you have $1825 in costs. Add on a nice markup, and no problem (for them).

Details, details, details. That's where the devil lives, according to the old saying.

mcanerin : your ad would only show up once per day

Good point - beware - check the proposal/contract.

Thank you guys for you input. Mcanerin thank you.
I am currently in North Carolina and from this area I can see the ad on top but when I check the same keyword from new York area it’s not showing up there.

So I think you have raised a very good point. From what I have learned so far I think these guys are running my ad on very limited bases and that’s how they are even able to keep me on top just to prove it to me that what they are claiming is true.

The contract only stats that they will run my add in sponserd link at google.com on the first page throughout the duration of the contract which is 1 year. And they will do this with 7 kyewords.

But I would still like to know if there is a way where I can check that a certain Ad is running in what areas and how limited it is running ???

I would like to have my home work done by the next time this company contacts me if possible.

Thank you

Here's how I check for ads running in remote locations... just build a URL like the one below, with the keyword and location you need, and then click it. For example, this URL does a search in Chicago for keyword limo service

http://www.google.com/search?q=limo+service&gr=US-IL&gcs=Chicago

basically they are using local search at google to get you on top for NYC Limosine in an area where the bids can be lower than the $5... as low as possibly 50 cents or less
