The International Herald Tribune article from March 16, picked up by the NY Times on March 19, discusses Lycos rebranding itself in the U.S. under Jubii. This headline is very misleading and confusing. Lycos, Inc. and Lycos Europe are two completely separate companies. It is Lycos Europe who is making an attempt to launch here in the U.S. under the name Jubii, not Lycos, Inc. Lycos, Inc. is already a well established brand in the U.S. and has no intention of relaunching under any name in the U.S. market other than Lycos. Lycos, Inc. and its parent company Daum Communications Corporation, own the Lycos trademark in the U.S. Therefore, in order for Lycos Europe to launch any product or services into the U.S. market, they cannot do it under the name of Lycos.
