I am currently working as a internet marketing assistant in a B2B company.

My main concern now is to get as many link partners as possible whose page rank is above average also in line with attracting affiliates.

I ve read through a lot of stuff regarding the aglorism of google and now using areliz to contact the potentials . ALthough it bear some fruits ,but the progress is really not very encouraging. I get 2 or 3 link partners perday out of hundreds mails.

Just wondering is it a wise way ,or I am wasting my time.
Is there some more cost-effective method to do so.

BTW: Although the relevance of the imbound link is important, but how many of your business competitors would like to share link with you in the danger of
losing their potential customers???

The question may sound naive, but it is very important for me

How about asking the marketing director? - Or whoever has told you to do this?

Presumably they know what to do right?

It cant be summarized so easily as it's a big topic but do some searches and check out this article (http://searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/index.php) for a good starter..

In most cases by hand is better than automated.

I'm surprised you're getting a conversion rate of 1 or 2%. That's actually pretty good. I also think that doing it by hand is better, but I suppose the automated system is faster.

My company is also B2B and I have been link building non-stop day and night for 4 months. One of the important things to learn is not to judge a site or page based on its PageRank, especially since it hasn't been updated since June 23.

Try to focus on sites that are relevant to your industry. Look for your keyword phrases on the page and related words - that's a quality link, not one with a PR6, a hundred links and no theme.

as aforementioned the high relevancy is bit tricky, the pages that is relevant to our business wont change links with us on a normal basis.

The reason why I need some guidance is that , after 1 month diligent grunt work I have undertaken, I am in a dilemma now . To keep on the so-called good work,or veer to another more efficient one ( still n/a may be more costly)

I am so surprised at some one alleging that they ve got 1 million visitors per day which really dishearten me to achieve it!!!! ALthough I know it even vary from business to business.

Just need some guidance or comments, is it worth doing it?
our website's is getting another 60 unique visitors every day ,but it is still fa from winning the game!!!

Instead of asking your competitors directly for a link to your site, check out their backlinks and then approach them for a link - if they are already linking to a site in your market area then there is a good chance that they will link to you as well.

I tend to check their backlinks as well, you never know when you may come across a relevant backlink.

PageRank, especially since it hasn't been updated since June 23.

The google dances are a dead issue. G now has a rolling update of its database. Page rank is updated daily.

I believe link building is blown-out of proportion more times then not. Sure it is an important part of any SEO campaing, but if you dedicate less time to getting links, and more time to getting truly unique and great content, people will link to you because you got good content, and that is the best way of achieving links IMO.

As far as automated VS manual, I will always pick manual. 10 quallity links from high PR pages, will get you better rankings then 10,000 low quality links on PR0 pages. Remember, just because you have a link on a page that is indexed by google, that does not mean google will count that as a link to your site.

BTW, funny we have the same name, I don't know more then 2 people with my name; maybe Nicolas is more popular in other countries.

True the Google dances are dead, but the PageRank update does still take place, but at present it has not updated for a while.

I think of several cases where links and more importantly link text has helped to rank a site very highly in competitive search phrases with only a few pages on the site. Content is important but I also rank links and anchor text just as high if not higher.

Nicolas, within any vertical market, there are many market segments. Let's say, for example, your industry is tunneling. There are companies that specialize in boring, earth retention, geotechnical surveys, conveyor systems, etc. Target other segments of your industry. Still relevant, but not competing.
